ASH presents a festive holiday eventDate: 12/22/2017
The Arkansas State Hospital (ASH) Forensic Gymnasium was dominated by a joyful, unison singing of the classic song – This Christmas.
Yes, it was just that kind of jolly atmosphere during the 2017 Holiday Program.
“Anytime staff and patients receive the chance to have a good time together, we always enjoy it,” said ASH CEO Jay Battle.
The Holiday Program featured speeches, carols, and inspirational readings. It was a worthwhile event for everyone in attendance, said Anthony Forte, the hospital’s recreational activity supervisor.
“This is about creating a normal situation for the patients by simply celebrating Christmas,” he enthusiastically stated. “It’s great how everyone comes together to present this program. It means a lot to each of us.”
Staff and patients working together to host the event is only a small part of what makes it special, according to hospital chaplain Zachary Easterly.
“It’s always fun to interact with the patients during an occasion like the Holiday Program,” he said. “For some, this is the only Christmas they have. So, I know the patients especially look forward to it.”
